Dental implants are used as artificial roots in patients with no teeth or one or more missing teeth. Thanks to dentures supported by dental implants, chewing can be done like your natural teeth and significantly better aesthetic results can be achieved. Even in cases where a single tooth is missing, healthy teeth can be created without any additional work on the adjacent teeth. Implants are made of titanium, a highly durable, advanced technology that is well-received by body tissues.
They are placed under local anesthesia in a procedure that takes approximately half an hour. They are intended to provide lifelong, trouble-free function in the mouth. Because the implant surfaces undergo special treatments, they form a special bond with the bone, providing mechanical and cellular adhesion. Waiting 3-6 months for the implant to bond is the ideal method. In recent years, there has been research on the possibility of immediate prosthesis placement. In this method, called immediate loading, numerous criteria, including the condition of the tissue, the implant site, the torque applied during placement, and the laboratory, must be fully compatible. Because even minimal discrepancies in these relationships can result in implant loss, strict adherence to waiting periods is in the patient’s best interest.
Who can undergo implant treatment?
Adults who have completed puberty. Those without any conditions affecting their general health. Those with diabetes whose diabetes is under control and regulated. Those with sufficient bone tissue in the implantation area (if bone tissue is insufficient, artificial bone can be used). There is no upper age limit for implant placement.
Success Criteria:
Appropriate Diagnosis and Treatment
Planning. Appropriate case and implant selection.
Available bone thickness and bone height.
Relationship of the implant-mounted dentures to the opposing teeth.
Oral hygiene.
Sterilization of the room and instruments during the operation.
The patient’s general health (diabetes must be under control).
No alcohol or smoking after the operation.
Regular 3-6 month dental checkups.
